A powerful explosion occurred near the Shambhu border on a railway track, where a suspected militant was killed while allegedly attempting to carry out sabotage. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Jagrup Singh alias Jupa from village Panjwar in Tarn Taran district, Punjab.

The blast was so intense that his body was torn apart. Locals in Panjwar—often associated with a history of militancy—expressed shock, stating they never suspected Jupa’s involvement in any terror activities. He was reportedly an atta chakki (flour mill) operator and a father of two daughters, often seen in Nihang attire.

Security and intelligence agencies have reached the village and begun investigations. Police are verifying Jupa’s background and possible links to militant groups. Notably, Panjwar village has had past associations with militancy, including links to Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) chief Paramjit Singh Panjwar, who was killed in Pakistan last year.

Based on intelligence inputs, Tarn Taran police have rounded up five suspects for questioning. Officials believe these individuals may provide crucial leads regarding the planned attack. DSP Sukhbir Singh is leading the interrogation, while SSP Surinder Lamba confirmed that a detailed probe is underway and findings will be shared with higher authorities.
