Continuous snowmelt in the catchment area of the Beas River has led to a sharp rise in the water level at Pandoh Dam, which has now reached nearly 2933 feet.

In response to the increasing inflow, the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has started releasing around 3,000 cusecs of additional water into the Beas River in a controlled manner.

BBMB Additional Superintending Engineer Chandramani Sharma said that following the release of water, the river level in downstream areas may rise by nearly 1 to 2 meters. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and avoid going near riverbanks.

Special caution has been advised for people living along the river in the districts of Mandi, Kangra, and Hamirpur, as the released water will pass through these regions. Tourists and local residents have also been warned against visiting riverbanks for photography, sightseeing, or grazing animals in the riverbed area.

Meanwhile, contractors and workers operating machinery and equipment in the riverbed have been instructed to immediately shift their equipment to safer and higher locations to prevent any damage or accidents.
