CHANDIGARH: Warriors of Chandigarh who fought against COVID 19 pandemic during its hey days are in high spirits. Spreading cheer all around is the news from the Glory of SKOCH Awards conferred in Online mode for "Order-of-Merit" at ZOOM platform on Monday. Around 500 participants across the country attended the function.
On behalf of State NSS Cell, Department of Education - Chandigarh Administration, award was received by State Liaison Officer (SLO) Bikram Singh Rana for his relentless community services during the peak time of pandemic being Special Incident Commander for approximately five months at one of the hot spot areas identified in "Red Zone" by Ministry of Home Affairs, G.O.I. during initial phase of COVID19 breakdown.
He was awarded the prestigious award for his effective execution of "Corona Mukt Abhiyan" to deal the pandemic situation at hot spot has been well appreciated. It was followed by report of Bapudham containment zone by World Health Organization (WHO) representative Dr. Srinivasan to the Governor of Punjab/ UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore for the replication of project at other hot spots in the region.
The ceremony to confer the online award was presided by ministry delegation from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY). Prof. Rana thanked Board of Members to recognize the efforts of Chandigarh Administration during Online felicitation. This independent National Awards of SKOCH for Order-Of-Merit was awarded to top 15 projects out of 1000+ exhibitions across the country.
Since, the availability of medicine to common man has a long way Prof. Rana suggested, we need to learn and live with all precautionary measures by following government guidelines in long run. As a responsible citizens, we must ensure Social distancing, Mask bearing and strengthen our immunity with physical exercise and healthy diet, he added. It must be a part of life for at least 1-2 years as a regular feature.
