The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab fiercely attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party for conspiring to topple the AAP government in Delhi and impose the President's rule there. The AAP government in Delhi is elected with a huge majority, the President's rule will be unconstitutional and against the mandate of the people of Delhi.
In a press conference on Friday, AAP leader and spokesperson Bikram Jit Passi said that today, the biggest threat to democracy in India is the BJP. Conspiracies are being hatched to topple the government elected by the people, conspiracies are being hatched to impose the President's rule in Delhi and Punjab.
Passi said that after many sacrifices we earned this independence. We became a democratic country. Dr B R Ambedkar wrote a constitution to ensure that everyone's rights are protected. Functioning of government and its powers are clearly outlined. The people of our country choose their governments. Elected MLAs have the right yo vhoose their Chief Minister. The Chief Minister choose his council of ministers and a government and a chief minister elected by people serve the people. But, unfortunately the Bharatiya Janata Party government at centre is constantly harrassing the non-BJP elected governments in India. Whether it is Delhi or Punjab, they are trying to topple the elected AAP government and conspiring to impose the President's rule.
He continued that the people elected the Delhi government for 5 years. It was a high majority mandate of the people of Delhi, but the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to murder our democracy. They want to remove a government which is working for the welfare of the people and providing facilities to the common people. Similarly, in Punjab, the AAP government is constantly harassed and threatened by the BJP's governor. In a letter of the Governor, dated 25th August 2023, he openly threatened to impose the President's rule, just because the Mann government was taking decisions for the betterment of Punjab and its people.
AAP spokesperson said that they tried time and again to stop Arvind Kejriwal and the Delhi's AAP government. But when they failed to intimidate us they registered this false case, arrested our national leaders, arrested our convenor and Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. After putting Arvind Kejriwal in jail, they are constantly trying to intimidate our leaders and trying to buy them. We have exposed their Operation Lotus too. But it has come to light again today that they are hatching conspiracies to impose the President's rule in Delhi. The government posts are not being filled. The Lieutenant Governor there is continuously working against the Delhi government. Officers in Delhi are not attending the government meetings.
He said that the BJP wants to destroy our country, its diversity, our constitution and our democracy. Democracy is the biggest power to keep this country united, to take it towards progress, peace and communal harmony but the BJP does not want that. Today BJP's central government has become the biggest threat to democracy. They misuse central agencies like CBI and ED to settle their political vendettas, to threaten opposition leaders and to stop a leader like Arvind Kejriwal at the time of election.
Passi said that it was Arvind Kejriwal's Delhi government that started revolutionary work in the fields of health and education. Mohalla clinics and Schools of eminence were their initiatives who are designed to facilitate the common and poor people. He said that it is not only Delhi that they are trying to topple the government and impose the President's rule, because if they succeed in Delhi, then they will come for the Punjab government and then for the rest of non-BJP governments. So this general election is the best time to defeat the BJP and their dictatorial ideologies and to save our democracy and constitution.
He asked the people of Punjab that will they allow such conspiracies to succeed? Will we allow anyone to disrespect and destroy the independence, democracy and constitution, for which we have made so many sacrifices? He said that the people of Punjab will never tolerate the dictatorship, we will fight against it till our last breath. He urged the people to vote against the BJP to save our democracy.
