Attack on PU Students Is Attack on Punjab’s Pride and Democracy: Malvinder Kang

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang strongly condemned the BJP-led central government’s brutal attack on Panjab University students, calling it a shameful and deliberate attempt to crush Punjab’s democratic spirit.

Kang said that Panjab University is not just an institution, it is Punjab’s intellectual and cultural identity, and the BJP’s repeated interference in its democratic structure exposes its anti-Punjab mindset. “After attacking our farmers, our water rights, and our federal autonomy, BJP is now targeting our students, the future of Punjab. This is an attack on Punjab’s pride and democracy,” Kang declared.

He accused the BJP of trying to seize control of Panjab University through undemocratic means, first by delaying its elections and then by dissolving the Senate. “The lathi charge on peacefully protesting students, including girls, shows BJP’s frustration and fear of Punjab’s awakened youth,” he said.

Kang warned that Punjab will not tolerate such tyranny, reminding the BJP that Punjabis have always defended justice and freedom. “Punjab’s soil has defeated every oppressor in history, BJP will be no exception,” he said.

Expressing full solidarity with the students, Kang said that AAP stands shoulder to shoulder with them in their struggle for democracy and dignity. “We will not let BJP turn centres of learning into centres of suppression,” he concluded.
