Three schools in Amritsar received bomb threats via email on Tuesday, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures and send students back home on Wednesday.
The schools named in the threat are Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Ryan International School and Sri Ram Ashram Public School. Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School is affiliated with the Chief Khalsa Diwan.
Following the receipt of the threatening emails, police were informed and launched an investigation. Teams are working to verify the authenticity of the emails and trace the source from which the threats were sent.
Students arriving at the schools on Wednesday were reportedly sent back home as a precautionary measure. Further details about the nature of the threat and the identity of the sender are awaited.
Security Alert Ahead of Amit Shah’s Jalandhar Rally
The development comes amid heightened security arrangements in the region ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Jalandhar.
Shah is scheduled to address a rally at Paragpur, near the Jalandhar-Ludhiana highway, as part of the BJP’s outreach across the 23 Assembly constituencies in the Doaba region.
