Brutal abuse of power by AAP ahead of nominations: Warring

Says, panic stricken AAP trying to intimidate opposition
Warns not a single officer to be spared for intimidation

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today alleged brutal abuse of power by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in the state during the filing of the nomination papers for Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections.
“This only shows the writing on the wall that the AAP has lost the ground and realized it too and that is why it resorting to such desperate attempts to misuse police and official machinery”, he said in a statement here today.
Summing up today’s developments, Warring said that reports from across the state suggested that the ruling AAP not only misused but abused its power to intimidate the opposition candidates. HE said, despite such brutal abuse of power, most of the Congress candidates managed to file their nomination papers.
The PCC president said that everything was being captured in the cameras across the state and the government had been exposed. He said, if the government was confident about its performance why did it need to use such brutal force. “This only reveals the sense of panic, desperation and frustration as the government has realized its support was eroding”, he noted.
Earlier during an informal interaction with reporters, on the widely circulate audio clip of the Patiala Police, where in officials are purportedly discussing how to prevent opposition candidates from filing the nomination papers, Warring said, while he did not know whether it was AI generated or real, but otherwise also, the abuse of police and government machinery is the hallmark of the AAP government in Punjab. He said, what was being discussed in the audio clip was already happening all over Punjab and was being recorded by common people.
He said, one of the Congress leaders, whose wife was scheduled to file nomination papers, was picked by the area SHO and literally waylaid from one place to another. He was also illegally detained for the entire night, he added. He said, not a single police official whether an SSP, SP, DSP or SHO will be spared and everyone will be held accountable.
Warring said, no wonder that the law and order was deteriorating in Punjab and the gangsters were ruling the roost as the police was busy in other things including intimidating the opposition leaders and helping the AAP win by abuse of brutal force. “But this too shall pass and everyone will be held in the dock”, he remarked while conveying a strict and firm message to all those who have indulged in excesses against the opposition workers and leaders.
