In a major security operation near the Ajnala sector of Amritsar, the Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition following intelligence-based action.

The BSF’s 117 Battalion, acting on specific intelligence received late Thursday night, conducted a targeted search operation in Hard Khurd village under the Ajnala police station area of rural Amritsar. During the operation, a local Indian citizen was taken into custody, and the recovery was made based on his disclosure.

The seized arsenal includes one AK-47 rifle, 25 pistols, 47 pistol magazines, one bulletproof jacket, and 368 live cartridges, officials confirmed.

According to BSF officials, the detained individual is currently under interrogation with the 117 Battalion. Security agencies are now working to determine the purpose behind the stockpiling of such a large quantity of arms and to identify the wider network involved in the case.

Investigations are ongoing, and officials indicated that further revelations are likely as the probe progresses. In response to the recovery, the BSF has further strengthened surveillance and security measures across the border belt.

The case highlights continued concerns over arms smuggling and cross-border security threats in Punjab’s sensitive frontier regions.
