Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Jitendra Pathak, a proclaimed offender who had been absconding for nearly a decade, in connection with a fraud case involving a fake promise of a job in the Lok Sabha Secretariat. Pathak was arrested from Ludhiana.

According to the CBI, a case was registered against Pathak and his associate on July 13, 2009. The two allegedly promised a man that they could secure him a job in Parliament and took ₹50,000 from him in return.

Following the complaint, the CBI launched an investigation into the alleged fraud. After completing the probe, the agency filed a chargesheet against both accused in court in December 2009.

However, Pathak failed to appear before the court despite the filing of the chargesheet. The investigating agency subsequently began efforts to trace him, but he remained untraceable for several years.

In 2016, the court declared Pathak a proclaimed offender after he continued to remain absent from the proceedings.

The CBI continued efforts to locate him and eventually traced and arrested him from Ludhiana. Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.
