Chandigarh Administration has announced a Diwali bonus for eligible employees ahead of the festival. The Finance Department has issued an order granting a non-productivity-linked bonus equivalent to 30 days’ wages for the financial year 2025-26.

The Accounts Branch of the Finance Department has circulated the order to all administrative secretaries and heads of departments.

According to the order, all Group C employees and non-gazetted Group B employees of the Chandigarh Administration will be eligible for the bonus. Eligible employees of the armed forces, paramilitary forces and Union Territory administration will also benefit, subject to the applicable Central Government rules.

Daily-wage workers will also be covered under the scheme. Those working in establishments with a six-day week must have worked for at least 240 days in each of the preceding three years. For employees in offices following a five-day week, the minimum requirement is 206 working days in each year.

The bonus will be payable to employees who were in service as of March 31, 2026, and completed at least six months of continuous service during the financial year 2025-26. Employees who worked for more than six months but less than a full year will receive the bonus on a proportionate basis.

The maximum monthly salary considered for calculating the bonus has been fixed at ₹7,000. Accordingly, eligible employees can receive a maximum bonus of ₹6,908 for 30 days. Eligible daily-wage workers will receive a bonus of ₹1,184.

The order also provides for employees who retired, were discharged on medical grounds or died during the relevant period. Employees who retired or otherwise ceased to be in service before March 31, 2026, may also qualify, subject to the prescribed conditions, including completion of at least six months of service during the year.

The expenditure on the bonus will be met from the approved budgetary provisions of the respective departments for the financial year 2026-27.
