Preparations for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) elections 2026 have gathered pace, with the State Election Commission indicating that the civic body polls will be held by the end of this year. The commission has released the draft list of polling stations for all 35 wards of the city and invited suggestions and objections from the public and prospective candidates.

The draft list will be available for inspection from October 22 to October 27, 2026, at the offices of the respective Returning Officers. Those seeking to raise objections or suggest changes can submit their representations in writing to the concerned Returning Officer by 5 pm on October 27.

According to the commission, the draft polling station list has been prepared on the basis of the electoral rolls revised under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted by the Election Commission of India. The revised electoral rolls were published on September 22, 2026.

To facilitate the election process, the State Election Commission has also appointed Returning Officers for the respective wards.

The commission will examine the suggestions and objections received within the stipulated deadline and take further action in accordance with the prescribed rules.

The release of the draft polling station list is part of the preparations for the upcoming municipal elections, which are expected to take place by the end of 2026.
