Congress Will Not Tolerate Misconduct Against Women Professors: Pargat Singh

Pargat’s demand – AAP Govt must take strict action against police personnel guilty of misconduct with women.
Due to AAP Government’s negligence, recruitment of 1,158 assistant professors is at risk; state must immediately file a review petition in the Supreme Court.

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Padma Shri Pargat Singh, MLA and Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, today strongly condemned the shocking incident in Sangrur where Punjab Police personnel, under the AAP Government, misbehaved with protesting women professors outside Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence.

Singh said the viral video has exposed the insensitivity and brutality of the AAP regime. “The AAP Government should hang its head in shame. In their rule, women’s dignity is under threat—and Congress will not tolerate such indignity. Punjab deserves a government that protects, not persecutes,” he declared.

Law and Order Collapse Under AAP

Pargat Singh pointed out that law and order has already collapsed in Punjab under the AAP Government. Unemployment is at its peak, contractual employees are losing jobs instead of being regularized, and when teachers, professors, or employees protest for their rights, they are met with lathi-charge.

“Lathi-charge itself is condemnable, but when protectors turn predators against women, no bigger crime exists. This is a shame for any civilised government,” Singh said.

Professors’ Future at Stake

Singh warned that due to the AAP Government’s negligence in defending its case, the future of 1,158 assistant professors and librarians is now in danger. “Instead of ensuring justice, the government failed its teachers in court. To save their jobs, the AAP Government must immediately file a review petition in the Supreme Court. Punjab’s educators must not pay the price for the state’s incompetence,” he said.

Punjab Needs Accountability, Not Excuses

Pargat Singh stressed that these incidents are not isolated—they reflect a deeper failure of governance. “Today, unemployment is rising, crime is unchecked, and those who educate our children are being beaten and humiliated. This is not governance—it is betrayal. Punjab needs accountability, not excuses,” he asserted.
