Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Tuesday said that the district administration would take severe action if anyone found to be polluting water bodies in Ludhiana.
The Deputy Commissioner said that sometimes, untreated water or garbage were being dumped into water bodies by individuals, village panchayats, Municipal Committees and organizations. She said that it was a violation of not only the Water Pollution Act but also violates Canal and Drainage Act.
Malik directed all municipal bodies, panchayat and drainage departments to keep a vigil and ensure no one pollutes water bodies at any cost by taking effective measures. She also solicited fulsome support from residents of the district in keeping water bodies clean and pollution free.
