Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough against a cross-border drug trafficking and illegal arms network. Acting on specific inputs, Batala Police arrested two accused during a targeted operation.

According to officials, a large quantity of contraband and weapons was recovered from the suspects. The Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab shared details of the successful operation on social media.

Police recovered 6.5 kilograms of heroin, a .30 caliber pistol, and six live cartridges from the accused. In addition, ₹1 lakh in suspected drug money was also seized.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the seized weapons were being supplied to operatives working within the same network. Police sources indicate that the racket has links across the border, pointing to an organized international smuggling operation.

An FIR has been registered at the Civil Lines Police Station in Batala, and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network and identify other individuals involved.
