In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Ferozepur Police have arrested three accused in two separate operations and recovered 5.775 kilograms of heroin, 1,33,640 banned capsules and tablets, 39 live cartridges, and ₹36,600 in cash.
According to the police, the action was carried out as part of a special drive against drug smuggling and illegal narcotics networks operating in the district. Separate cases have been registered against the accused at Arif Ke Police Station and Mamdot Police Station under the NDPS Act and other relevant legal provisions.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were allegedly involved in large-scale drug trafficking. Police are now working to trace the source of the seized heroin and prohibited pharmaceutical drugs while identifying other individuals linked to the network.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing, with teams examining the accused's financial transactions, supply chains, and possible interstate or cross-border connections to dismantle the entire smuggling racket.
Ferozepur Police reiterated their commitment to making Punjab drug-free, stating that strict action will continue against anyone found involved in narcotics trafficking.
