Flood alert in Gurdaspur district, people asked to shift to safe places due to rising water level in Raavi river

GURDASPUR: Due to the increase in the water level in the Raavi river, the district administration has appealed to the residents of nearby camps and villages to go to safe places.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Muhammad Ishfaq informed that 1.5 to 2 lakh cusecs of water has been released from Ojh river today. Due to which the water level in the Raavi river will increase very much in 2 hours.

Therefore, the people of the villages/villages near the river Ravi are requested to move to safe places immediately.

He further informed that as per the information given by Madhopur Head, due to the increase of water level in the Ravi River (white signal alert) from 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh cusec, villages Thakurpur, Miani, Chontra, Chakri, Samsherpur, Islampur, Nadala, stump Kamalpur Jat, Wazidpur Tarpur, Chakram Sahay and Makora villages may be affected.

An official spokesman said that the Villages Ogra, Tadan, Jhabkra, Jhandachak, Faridpur, Mirjapur, Kabirpur, Alinangal, Lolonangal, Hardochanni, Choda, Aluna, Sohan affected by flood due to rise in water level of 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh cusecs in Ravi river (white signal alert) , Agwan, Chandi Wadala, Chandu Nangal, Kotli Daya Ram, Pakhoke, Jaswa, Chandigarh, Kathlor, Baryal, Goyal, Datyal, Gaju Gajir, Makara Khana, Sandalpur, Shahpur, Dorangla, Thaman, Nangal, Dhale, Dugri, Adiin, Baupur ) , Rodanwali, Ball, Jodi Kalan and Mohan villages may be affected by flood.

Similarly in Ravi river (white signal alert) due to 2 lakh to 4 lakh cusec water level rise, Tanda, Jhabkra, Jhandachak, Faridpur, Mirjapur, Kabirpur, Alinangal, Lolonangal, Hardochanni, Choda, Aluna, Chechian, Chandu Wadala, Chandu Nangal Kotli Daya Ram, Pakhoke, Jaswa, Chandigarh, Kathlor, Baryal, Goyal, Datyal, Gaju Gajir, Makara Khana, Sandalpur, Shahpur, Dorangla, Thaman, Nangal, Dhale, Dugri, Adiin, Baupur, Kalupur, Malbua, Kukkar Chor, Gadin , Dostpur, Shahpur Clan, Bohar Wadala, Barila, Khurd, Rosse, Pakiwan, Mirkachanan, Bhaktana Tuli, Khasanwali, Gola Dola, Thatharke, Ghnia Ke Bet, Gunian, Guru Chak, Dharamkot, Singhpura, Rodanwali, Ball, Jodi Clan, Mohan Nangal, Kilawali, Shahpur, Kabirpur, Alechak, Mansura, Balolpur, Sherpur Bahmani, Bharath and Gaji Chak villages may be affected by flood.

When the water rises to this level, preparations are made to evacuate the nearby villages (2lue signal ready to be evacuated) when the blue signal occurs. Gandyal Kidi, Kidi Kalan, Sundisaini, Nowshera, Thakurpur, Miani, Chauntra, Chakri, Samsherpur, Islampur Jattan, Nadala, Tundi, Kamalpur Jattan, Wajidpur Tarpur, Chakram Sahai and Makora villages are included. If at the same level of water, the red signal i.e. the villages should be immediately evacuated (Red signal immediate evacuated), in which Gandyal Keedi, Keede Kalan, Sundisaini, Nowshera, Thakurpur, Miani, Chauntra, Chakri, Samsherpur, Islampur Jatt, Nadala, Tundi, Kamalpur Jattan, Wajidpur Tarpur, Chakram Sahay and Makora villages are included.
