Govt’s aim is to make every child and woman healthy and empowered: Arti Singh

National Deworming Day programme concludes successfully across state

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said the state government’s goal is to ensure that every child and every woman in the state becomes completely healthy and empowered. The dream of “Worm-free Haryana – Healthy Haryana” can only be realized when the core strength of society – women and children – are fully healthy.

Speaking on the Mop-up Day today, she said that continuous concrete steps are being taken to free children, adolescents, and women of reproductive age from worm infections. As part of this, the National Deworming Day was successfully organized across the state.

She explained that worm infections seriously affect the health and nutritional level of children and adolescents. These infections can cause anemia, malnutrition, loss of appetite, stomach pain, and weakness. Therefore, the government has provided Albendazole tablets free of cost to children and adolescents aged 1 to 19 years, as well as women aged 20 to 24 years (who are neither pregnant nor lactating).

The Health Minister informed that this medicine was distributed on August 26, 2025, through all government and private schools and Anganwadi centres to children and women. Those beneficiaries who, for any reason, missed taking the medicine on that day were given it on Mop-up Day today.

She emphasized that the health of children and women is the true capital of society and the nation. With this belief, teachers, Anganwadi workers, and Health Department staff across the state worked together to make the campaign a great success. They ensured that no child or woman was left out of the deworming drive.
