Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to two newly recruited employees of the Fisheries Department—one Multipurpose Fisheries Skilled Worker and one Fisherman.
The latest appointments are part of the Punjab Government’s sustained recruitment drive to strengthen the Fisheries Department. Since 2022, the department has recruited 55 officials across various cadres, boosting its administrative, technical and field-level capabilities.
Congratulating the recruits, Khudian said the appointments reflect the state government’s commitment to modernising the department and providing better technical support and services to fish farmers across Punjab.
He said the strengthened workforce would help promote sustainable aquaculture, increase fish production and contribute to the state’s agricultural economy.
Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari said the department is focused on technical training, capacity building and field-level support to improve the livelihoods of fish farmers while ensuring sustainable use of aquatic resources.
