Tarn Taran Police have foiled an alleged plot to spread violence in Punjab during the festive season by arresting two youths suspected of having links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. Four grenades were recovered from their possession.

The arrests were made late Monday night based on intelligence inputs received by CIA Staff Inspector Rupinderpal Singh. A team led by Khalra Station House Officer Dilbagh Singh apprehended Krishna Singh and Princepal Singh from the Khemkaran area.

According to police, the grenades were allegedly sent from Pakistan through drones. Preliminary investigation suggests that the ISI was planning to facilitate violent activities in Punjab during the festive period.

A case has been registered at Khalra police station. Investigators are questioning the accused to identify their other associates and ascertain whether they have links with any terrorist organisation.

Police are also probing the source and intended targets of the recovered grenades as part of the ongoing investigation.
