Haryana Govt’s relief to clerks: 2023 strike period to be treated as Earned Leave

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

The Haryana Government has taken a major decision in the interest of clerks who went on strike in 2023. Now, this strike period will be considered as Earned Leave (leave of the kind due). Also, neither will the salary for this period be deducted, nor will this period be treated as a break in service.

A letter issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, who also holds the charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, states that before going on strike, the earned or accumulated ‘earned leave’ will first be adjusted, followed by ‘half-pay leave’. If any strike period still remains unadjusted after this, advance earned leave will be sanctioned, which will later be adjusted from the future earned leave of the concerned clerks.

The letter further states that this relaxation is being given as a one-time special arrangement and will not be treated as a precedent in the future. These instructions will apply only to certain categories of employees, especially clerks, who participated in that particular strike. They will not be applicable in any other case. Accordingly, after verification from SAS cadre in the departments, the salary can be released.

In this regard, instructions have been issued to all Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil), and Treasury Officers.
