Reminds Harsimrat Badal How Akali Dal is Responsible for Punjab's Debt
Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
AAP MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer launched a scathing attack on SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal, countering her remarks with a detailed account of AAP's achievements in Punjab. Meet Hayer accused the SAD government of plunging Punjab into a debt crisis during their tenure without delivering any tangible development for the state's people.
“Punjab's debt burden began under the SAD government, and despite taking substantial loans, there was no visible development. Instead, this debt was used to benefit their own businesses. In contrast, the AAP government, in just three years, has demonstrated unparalleled progress across multiple sectors,” said Meet Hayer.
The AAP MP emphasized the transformative impact of the party’s governance, highlighting significant achievements such as uninterrupted 12-13 hour electricity supply for farmers, a stark contrast to the erratic services under the SAD regime. He noted that thousands of villages now receive canal water for irrigation, a facility denied during previous governments.
Meet Hayer praised the AAP’s investment in education, revamping dilapidated schools with modern facilities and allocating crores for their improvement. Over 50,000 government jobs have been provided in the last three years, compared to the SAD's negligible efforts during their decade-long rule, which he dismissed as mere election-season tokenism. Furthermore, the AAP government has undertaken projects worth thousands of crores to clean ponds, build sports grounds, and promote holistic rural development, delivering tangible benefits to the people of Punjab.
Meet Hayer also ridiculed the SAD for failing to take meaningful steps on key issues such as toll plazas and public infrastructure. “AAP’s government shut down exploitative toll plazas. Why didn’t the Akalis close even one during their tenure? The answer is simple, they didn’t care about the common people,” he asserted.
Highlighting Punjab’s economic turnaround, Meet Hayer challenged the SAD to compare the state's revenue growth under their tenure to that of the AAP government. “The state’s income has increased significantly under AAP. This is the real measure of governance, which neither the Akalis nor the Congress could achieve.”
Concluding his remarks, Meet Hayer invited opposition leaders to visit villages and witness the change brought about by the AAP government. "From education and employment to electricity and water, the difference is clear. We don’t just talk, we deliver.”
