CCTNS award ceremony was organized at Police Headquarters in which 34 best performing police personnel from various districts/units were awarded with the Commendation Certificate-I by the DGP, HP.This award ceremony was organizedas Himachal Pradesh Police has achieved 1st rank among Hilly & North-Eastern States in CCTNS consecutively for fourth year and awarded by NCRB /MHA.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has conceptualized the Crime & Criminals Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project as a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). Presently, the CCTNS Core Application Software is operational successfully at 251 sites which includes Police Stations, SDPOs and higher offices. The manual registration of FIRs has been stopped and it is being registered through the CAS application at all Police Stations. The data of CCTNS synchronized at State Data Centre is being shared with the NDC, New Delhi and DRC, Pune for its integration with the national database on daily basis.
The HP Police has customized various State Specific CCTNS reports at State, District and Police Station level. The HP Police department has also developed and digitized State Specific Registers. Besides this, Himachal Pradesh State is providing online character certificate verification through eDistrict to the citizen with minimal charge of Rs. 50/-and received more than 40,000 character certificate verification request till now. Himachal Pradesh Police department is also in the process to integrate and provide more online services to the citizens at their doorsteps.
GoI/MHA has envisioned ICJS 2.0 to facilitate seamless integration and data exchange among five pillars of Criminal Justice System i.e. CCTNS (for Police), e-Forensic ( for Forensic labs), e-Courts (for Courts), e-Prosecution (for public Prosecutors) and e-Prison. To utilize nations collective resources efficiently and effectively, GoI will provide financial assistance to the States through a centralized framework/mechanism. The ICJS 2.0 will include reform target improvement of existing systems and inclusion of modern technologies like AL/ML, Blockchain, Natural Language Processing, Facial Recognition etc. to fulfill the aspirations of various stakeholders.
Apart from above, Himachal Pradesh Police is also implementing the formulated guidelines to align with new criminal laws by incorporating necessary technological upgrades in the testing environment. The framework of three new criminal laws will be ready till July, 2024 for implementation/roll out in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
