Since the imposition of the model code of conduct for the upcoming Lok sabha elections and bye-elections in the State, illicit liquor, cash, drugs and jewellery worth Rs. 7,23,13,120 have been seized by the police, excise and other agencies in Himachal Pradesh.
This was revealed by a spokesperson of the State Election Department here today.
The spokesperson further elaborated that the Police department has seized cash worth Rs. 21,65,970 and 65 grams of gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 3.35 lakh. The excise department also captured 356195 liters of illicit liquor worth Rs. 5.12 Crores. Till now confiscation of 27 Kilograms of Charas worth Rs. 53.80 Lakhs, 1.40 Kilograms of heroin amounting to Rs. 97.2 lakh and around 33.35 kilograms of Poppy Husk worth Rs. 66 thousand has been impounded by the different agencies.
