HPU and HPTDC Sign MoU to Strengthen Educational and Tourism Linkages

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Summer Hill, Shimla, and Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (HPTDC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, marking a significant step in promoting cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and educational enrichment.

The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Harshwardhan Sen, Assistant General Manager, HPTDC, Hotel Peterhof Shimla, on behalf of the Managing Director, HPTDC, and by Sh. Gian Sagar Negi, Registrar, Himachal Pradesh University on behalf of HPU.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Prof. Mahavir Singh, Vice Chancellor of HPU, who was present on the occasion along with senior faculty members. From HPTDC’s side, Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Deputy General Manager, Hotel Holiday Home Shimla, and Mr. Sitaram Sharma, Assistant Manager, Hotel Peterhof Shimla, were also present.

As per the MoU:
HPTDC will extend its hotels, restaurants, and adventure tourism services to HPU students, faculty, staff, and their families at concessional rates.
Discounts include 20% on accommodation and 15% on food, on production of valid HPU identity cards or authorization letters.
Both parties will collaborate in organizing cultural and tourism promotion events such as the Himachal Food/Music Fest.
The MoU also provides for mutual publicity opportunities, display of banners/standees, and use of logos for joint initiatives. The MoU comes into effect immediately (w.e.f. 19.09.2025) and will remain valid until 31.03.2026, unless extended by mutual consent.
