An illegally operated pharmaceutical manufacturing unit has been busted inside a residential house in the Ramgarh Bhudda area of Zirakpur. A joint team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell and the Food and Drug Department raided the premises following a tip-off and seized a huge quantity of steroids, banned medicines and drugs allegedly used for intoxication.
One employee was arrested from the spot, while agencies have launched an investigation to identify the alleged mastermind and trace the supply network. Officials said the arrested employee was being thoroughly questioned to gather more information about the operations.
Police and drug department officials described the case as serious and indicated that more arrests could follow in the coming days as the investigation progresses. They are expecting to uncover the entire network and identify other people involved in the illegal operation.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the fake manufacturing unit was being run from a rented house in a residential locality without any government approval or valid licence.
According to initial findings, the banned medicines and steroids manufactured at the facility were allegedly supplied through online platforms. Investigating agencies are now examining the online distribution channels and other possible links to establish the scale of the illegal operation.
