In a significant political development, several councillors from different cities and towns across Punjab, who were elected as Independents in the recent Municipal elections, are set to join the Shiromani Akali Dal today.
The induction ceremony will take place at the party office in Chandigarh, where senior Akali leaders will formally welcome the newly joined councillors into the party fold.
Following the joining event, Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal will interact with the media and share his views on the party’s growing support base and future political strategy.
The event is scheduled to begin at 12 noon on June 1 at the Shiromani Akali Dal Office, Sector 28, Chandigarh.
The joining of independent councillors is being seen as a boost for the Akali Dal ahead of upcoming political challenges in the state.
