Indian Army Receives Three More Apache Helicopters, Strike Capability to Strengthen Along Western Border

Punjab Newsline,Chandigarh :

Strengthening its offensive capabilities further, the Indian Army has received three additional Apache AH-64E attack helicopters from the United States. The helicopters arrived on Tuesday, December 17, 2025, at Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad aboard a heavy-lift Antonov AN-124 transport aircraft. With this delivery, the complete fleet of six Apache helicopters sanctioned for the Indian Army is now available in the country.

According to Army officials, the three Apache helicopters will be deployed to the 451 Army Aviation Squadron based in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, after completing the required assembly, joint inspections, and other technical and administrative formalities. This squadron already plays a strategically important role along the western border.

The Apache AH-64E is regarded as one of the world’s most lethal and advanced attack helicopters. Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, long-range radar, Hellfire missiles, and a 30 mm chain gun, these helicopters are capable of operating effectively day and night and in all weather conditions. Their deployment in sensitive areas along the western border is expected to significantly enhance the Indian Army’s rapid response and strike capabilities.

Keeping the desert terrain of Rajasthan in mind, the Apache helicopters have been finished in a special sand-colored desert camouflage scheme. This helps them blend into the desert environment and avoid detection by enemy forces, providing a tactical advantage during operational missions.

The Army stated that the deployment of these Apache helicopters will play a crucial role in border security, support to armored warfare, and counter-terrorism operations. Equipped with modern technology, these helicopters will further strengthen the Indian Army’s aviation wing and reinforce the security balance along the western frontier.
