7,000 Villages Held Anti-Drug Seminars, 4,500 Declared Completely Drug-Free
“Rangla Punjab, Drug-Free Punjab” - Bhagwant Mann’s Vision Close to Reality
Raja Warring Says Punjab Can’t Be Drug-Free, Mann Govt Proves Otherwise
Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-
Aam Aadmi Party leader Neel Garg today said in a statement that under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, the AAP government is continuously working to eradicate drugs from the roots of Punjab. The results of 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' are clearly visible on the ground now.
Appreciating the anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nasheyan Virudh' being run by the government, Neel Garg said that recently, the AAP government organized anti-drug seminars in villages across Punjab. During these seminars, people took pledges that they would neither allow drugs to be sold in their villages nor allow anyone to consume them. Nearly 7,000 villages held these seminars and as a result, today more than 4,500 villages have become completely drug-free.
Targeting Congress leader Raja Warring, Garg said that leaders like Warring claim that Punjab can never become drug-free. Contrary to these claims, the Mann government has cracked down on big drug smugglers and sent them to jail. He said that when intentions are strong and clear, success is inevitable.
Garg stated that the Mann government has taken strict steps to break the drug supply chain. Now drug smugglers are either leaving Punjab or are behind bars. Alongside this, awareness campaigns against drugs are being run in every street, neighborhood, and village so that the youth can be kept away from the menace of drugs.
Garg further said that the government has also taken significant initiatives to encourage the youth towards sports. The Mann government has announced the construction of 3,000 playgrounds in various villages across Punjab within the next six months. Youth are being encouraged towards sports and are being provided with employment opportunities. He emphasized that youth trapped in drug addiction are not criminals, they are patients. The Mann government is working to ensure their treatment and reintegration into the mainstream.
Neel Garg said that previous Congress and Akali-BJP governments provided political protection to drug smugglers, whereas the Aam Aadmi Party government is taking strict action against these smugglers. Today, Punjab is moving towards change and we can say with full confidence that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s dream of a Drug-free Rangla Punjab will soon be realised.
