Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav visited the crime scene in Moga’s Angadpura locality on Monday following a deadly firing incident that claimed the lives of two youths. Faridkot Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nilambari Jagdale Vijay also accompanied him during the visit.
The senior police officials inspected the crime scene and met the families of the deceased, assuring them that justice would be delivered and strict action would be taken against everyone involved in the incident.
The firing took place late Sunday evening when armed assailants travelling in a black Scorpio allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on four to five youths before fleeing the spot. Four youths sustained gunshot injuries in the attack. Gagan Jindal and Sahil Jindal later succumbed to their injuries during treatment, while Raghav and Somnath Jindal remain injured and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Five Accused Arrested
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the police had recorded the statement of injured Somnath Jindal and registered a case at City South Police Station in Moga. He confirmed that five accused had been arrested in connection with the case, while further investigation was underway.
The DGP assured that the remaining accused would be arrested soon. He asserted that no one involved in the crime would be spared and that strict legal action would be taken against all those found guilty.
Victims’ Family Seeks Justice
Meanwhile, the victims’ family demanded a fair investigation and strict action against the accused. Manish Jindal, brother of the deceased youths, said the family had no enmity with anyone.
He alleged that the attackers arrived in a vehicle with tinted windows and suddenly opened fire on the youths. The family appealed to the police administration to ensure an impartial investigation and bring all those responsible to justice.
Heavy Police Deployment in the Area
Following the incident, a heavy police force was deployed in the locality, and the area was cordoned off as senior officers began investigating the case.
Preliminary information suggests that an old rivalry between two groups could be behind the firing. However, the exact motive has not yet been established, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
