From May 1 significant changes have been implemented in LPG cylinder booking and delivery rules across India, impacting millions of domestic consumers. Under the new system, delivery of LPG cylinders will now be completed only after the consumer provides an OTP (Delivery Authentication Code - DAC) to the delivery agent, making the process more secure and transparent.

In another key update, the booking gap rule has been revised. In urban areas, the minimum gap between two bookings has been increased from 21 days to 25 days. For rural areas, the gap may extend up to 45 days. Any attempt to book a cylinder before the prescribed gap will be automatically blocked by the system.

Major oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited will now issue updates related to rules and prices on the first day of every month. As a result, LPG price revisions are also expected periodically from the 1st of each month.

Consumer Advisory:
Consumers are advised to keep their registered mobile numbers active to receive OTPs without disruption. It is also important to check the booking gap before placing a request and keep the OTP ready at the time of delivery.

Beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana are especially advised to keep their Aadhaar e-KYC details updated to avoid any inconvenience.

These changes aim to curb hoarding, improve supply management, and enhance digital transparency in LPG distribution.
