A youth was allegedly beaten by Nihang Singhs after they received information that he was involved in drug peddling in a village in Amritsar. A video of the incident was later uploaded on social media.

In the video, two Nihang Singhs can be seen holding the youth by both arms and standing him between them. One of them is seen hitting the youth with a stick, while the other slaps him. The youth can also be heard screaming during the assault.

The video was posted by Baba Gurdeep Singh of Dashmesh Tarna Dal. According to Gurdeep Singh, he and his fellow Nihangs had received information that the youth was allegedly selling drugs, following which they took action against him.

Gurdeep Singh said the video was recorded in a village in Amritsar but refused to disclose the name of the village. He said several people secretly provide them information about drug-related activities and other issues, and the identities of those providing such information cannot be made public.

He further said that the Dashmesh Tarna Dal is running an anti-drug campaign under the leadership of its current chief, Baba Major Singh Sodhi.

As part of the campaign, Nihangs are visiting villages and spreading awareness among residents and the sangat about staying away from drugs. People struggling with drug addiction are also being counselled and encouraged to return to a normal life, he said.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and whether any police action has been initiated in the matter were not immediately clear.
