The Contonment Police have arrested one of the suspects involved in the loot and vandalism incident targeting Air India Terminal Manager Prasanna Ghosh near Meera Kot Chowk. The police have also recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, while the other accused are still absconding.
According to ACP Shivdarshan Singh, the incident took place around 6 PM on November 10. Complainant Prasanna Ghosh, a resident of West Bengal and serving as Terminal Manager with Air India, was driving towards Gumtala Link Road when 4–5 unidentified youths approached on two motorcycles and intercepted his car near Meera Kot Chowk.
The complaint states that the youths forcibly stopped the vehicle, damaged the car, assaulted him, and snatched his mobile phone before fleeing the spot. Following the complaint, police registered a case and began examining the CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
During the investigation, on November 12, the police received a tip-off that one of the accused was present on Loharka Road. Acting swiftly, the police arrested Manni, a resident of Ratan Singh Chowk. During interrogation, Manni disclosed the names of his accomplices—Bobby from Housing Board Colony and Joban Singh alias Bajwa. Both have been named as accused in the case.
The ACP stated that interrogation of the arrested accused is underway, and his criminal background is also being checked. Preliminary investigation indicates that 4–5 youths were involved in the incident, out of which two remain unidentified. Police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts to locate them.
The police have said that all accused involved in the incident will be arrested soon. The recovered bike is also being examined to determine whether it was used in any other criminal activities.
The incident occurred in a busy area of the city, raising concerns about local security. The police are treating the case very seriously and have intensified further action.
