Haryana Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal, stated that at least one Gaushala in each district should be adopted to improve cow breeds, as this will help to increase milk production in the state. He also directed officers to explore the possibilities of opening one "Pet Care Center" in each district on the lines of "Pet Animal Medical Centre" (PAMC) in Panchkula, to provide proper treatment for sick and injured pets as well as birds.
Kanwar Pal chaired a meeting with senior officers of the Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department at here today.
The minister gave special directions to improve cow breeds in the state, emphasising the use of modern technology to increase the birth rate of female calves instead of male calves. He stated that each district should adopt at least one Gaushalas to increase the number of high milk-yielding cows in the future.
He further directed that "Pet Care Centers" to be established in other districts, similar to PAMC in Panchkula. He noted that the trend of keeping pets is increasing in urban areas especially in nuclear families.
