Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) Chandigarh will organize a grand celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day on June 21, with around 4,000 participants expected to attend the event at the institute’s Sports Complex.
The programme, organized by PGI’s Yoga Centre, will begin at 5:45 a.m. and will be attended by PGI Director Vivek Lal, along with several senior officials of the institute. Healthcare workers, students, employees, and members of the public are expected to participate in the large-scale event.
This year’s International Yoga Day theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” aims to encourage people to adopt yoga as a way to maintain physical and mental well-being as they grow older.
The celebration will include musical yoga demonstrations by experts and a mass yoga session based on the Common Yoga Protocol. To facilitate participation, the Yoga Centre will provide yoga mats and T-shirts to attendees.
PGI Chandigarh has appealed to healthcare professionals, students, staff members, and citizens to join the event, emphasizing that regular yoga practice not only improves physical fitness but also helps reduce stress and promotes a healthier lifestyle.
