Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) resumed its protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Tuesday, intensifying its campaign over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and police action against demonstrators.
Meanwhile, addressing the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that the issue of paper leaks should not be politicised. According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Prime Minister said the government has treated recent paper leak incidents with utmost seriousness and has taken swift action against those responsible.
Reassuring the country's youth, PM Modi said that those found guilty of tampering with students' futures would not be spared under any circumstances and would face the strictest possible punishment. He also assured NDA lawmakers that the proposed India-US trade deal would not harm the interests of Indian farmers.
On the protest front, CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke alleged that Delhi Police used excessive force during Monday's Parliament March. Referring to the police action, Dipke claimed that students were injured and accused the government of ignoring their concerns.
Dipke also said that activist Sonam Wangchuk, after witnessing the police action, had decided to continue his indefinite fast. He added that the CJP had chosen not to organise another Parliament March on Tuesday, alleging that the previous day's police action had resulted in violence against students and asserting that the organisation remains committed to raising their concerns peacefully.
