Says, 15 More Villages To Be Covered In Second Phase
Suitable solution to waterlogging problem in Abohar soon; Mann Govt focusing on horticulture

Punjab Defence Services Welfare, Freedom Fighters and Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat, while replying to a question raised by Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar during the ongoing Punjab Vidhan Sabha session today, informed that an important project is underway in the Abohar area for the development of horticulture and to address the problem of waterlogging
The Minister said that the project is being implemented by the Department of Soil and Water Conservation in the Abohar region. Under the first phase of the project, work has been initiated in 27 villages at an estimated cost of around ₹27.73 crore, while another 15 villages will also be covered under the scheme in the second phase.
Mohinder Bhagat said that upon completion of the project, significant progress will be made in resolving the waterlogging problem in the Abohar area and the horticulture sector will receive a major boost. He added that this will provide farmers with additional income opportunities through horticulture and cultivation of other crops.
The Minister further said that under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Govt is committed to strengthening the horticulture sector in the state and promoting sustainable agricultural development. The project will also significantly benefit water conservation and agricultural sustainability in the region.
