Says, State Commits to Empowering Youth and Transforming Agriculture, Industry, and Governance Using AI

Marking a pivotal moment on the second day of the Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit, the Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora announced comprehensive plans to embrace the Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution. During the concluding session on Artificial Intelligence, Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora declared that the state will make all-out efforts to ensure that Punjab, particularly its youth, fully benefits from the rapid advancements in AI technology.

In a landmark move to improve governance, Minister Arora revealed that the state government will systematically introduce AI integration across all its departments. "This strategic initiative aims to fast-track administrative processes and make public service delivery more efficient, transparent, and accessible to the citizens of Punjab", he added.

Addressing a massive gathering of industry leaders and investors, the Minister emphasized the growing ubiquitousness of technology. "AI has become part and parcel of our daily lives, and it is imperative that we utilize it efficiently and responsibly," said Arora. 

Expressing immense satisfaction with the overwhelming response to the summit, the Industries Minister said  that all 26 sessions conducted throughout the day were jam-packed, reflecting the high confidence of the investor community in Punjab's growth trajectory.

 Meanwhile, the Expert Panel Highlights AI's Economic Impact

The session featured a robust panel discussion bringing together top minds in technology, academia, and industry. The panel included, Komal Talwar, Co-Founder, XLScout, Amit Thapar from Ganga Acrowool, Prof. Rajiv Ratn Shah from Plaksha University and Shailendra Tyagi, Director, STPI Mohali.

Highlighting the transformative potential of AI for the private sector during the discussion, the experts said that implementing AI solutions can increase a firm's output by more than 20 percent. The panelists stressed the importance of problem identification, advising businesses to first pinpoint their operational challenges and then strategically apply AI to resolve them. 

Beyond corporate efficiency, the panel underscored AI's critical role in revolutionizing Punjab’s core sectors including agriculture, industry, and trade, as well as its potential to drastically improve state governance.  

To foster a thriving innovation ecosystem, the experts strongly recommended that the government actively support early-stage AI startups by providing access to subsidized cloud storage and robust database infrastructure.

 Positioning Mohali as a Premier AI Hub

Setting the stage earlier in the session, Seema Bansal, Vice Chairperson of the Punjab Development Commission (PDC), and Amit Daka, CEO of Invest Punjab, delivered compelling presentations showcasing the state's readiness for next-generation technologies. They highlighted the strategic advantages, talent pool, and infrastructure of Punjab, specifically positioning Mohali as an emerging, premier hub for Artificial Intelligence in the region.

The highly engaging and insightful session was expertly moderated by Vineet Vijayavargia from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
