Punjab Police Arrest Drug Smuggler, Seize Over 5 Kg Heroin in Tarn Taran

Punjab Police has arrested a drug smuggler from Tarn Taran district and recovered 5 kg 101 grams of heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Bahadur Singh, son of Malkit Singh, a resident of Chhina village.

Under the campaign launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police is following a zero-tolerance policy against gangsters and drug trafficking. Acting on the directions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, special operations are being conducted to crack down on drug smugglers. Multiple teams were formed under the supervision of DIG Ferozepur Range Snehdeep Sharma and Tarn Taran SSP Surinder Lamba.

Inspector Rupinder Pal Singh, in-charge of CIA Staff Tarn Taran, along with his team, received technical and human intelligence inputs. The information revealed that Bahadur Singh was working in coordination with Pakistani smugglers to procure heroin consignments from across the India-Pakistan border and supply them across various areas of Tarn Taran.

Arrest Made After Intelligence-Based Blockade

Acting on the tip-off, the CIA Staff team set up a special checkpoint in the Gaggobuha area of Tarn Taran district. In the presence of the DSP City Tarn Taran, the accused was arrested while allegedly supplying heroin on his Activa scooter (PB46-AJ-8796). The police recovered 5 kg 101 grams of heroin along with the scooter.

Accused Admits Links with Pakistani Smugglers

A case has been registered against the accused at Police Station Jhabal under FIR No. 61, Section 21-C of the NDPS Act. During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to having links with Pakistani smugglers and supplying heroin across Tarn Taran and other districts of Punjab.

The accused will be produced before the court and taken on remand for further investigation, with more revelations expected in the case.
