Punjab Police has intensified its crackdown on the Bambiha gang, securing the deportation of three alleged gang operatives from Malaysia. The accused — Jas Behbal, Ajay Singh and Pawnideep Singh — have been arrested by the police.
According to the police, all three are allegedly involved in serious crimes, including extortion and target killings, in Punjab and neighbouring states. Ajay Singh and Pawnideep Singh are also accused of conspiring to carry out a hand grenade blast in Ludhiana.
In November 2025, Ludhiana Police arrested several youths and recovered a Chinese-made hand grenade from them. During interrogation, investigators allegedly found that the accused were preparing to create panic in the city. The probe further revealed that the conspiracy was allegedly planned by Ajay Singh and Pawnideep Singh while they were operating from Malaysia.
Following the revelations, Punjab Police brought the matter to the attention of the Central Government and initiated the process to bring the two accused back to India. As part of the operation, both were deported from Malaysia and subsequently arrested.
The latest arrests are part of Punjab Police’s intensified efforts to bring gangsters and terror suspects hiding abroad back to India.
In February 2026, under Operation Prahar, the police initiated extradition and deportation procedures to bring back 38 gangsters and wanted criminals hiding overseas. In June, two alleged Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terrorists, Gurwinder Singh and Manjeet Singh, were deported from Malaysia and arrested.
In July, under Operation Nomad Hunt, most-wanted gangster Jobanjeet Singh alias Joban Billa was deported from Jakarta, Indonesia, and brought back to India.
Now, in August, Punjab Police has secured the deportation and arrest of Bambiha gang operatives Jas Behbal, Ajay Singh and Pawnideep Singh from Malaysia, marking another major step in its campaign against organised crime networks operating from abroad.
