Punjab’s political climate has intensified after three blasts were reported within a week, triggering sharp reactions from opposition parties. Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress have criticized the state government, holding Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accountable for the deteriorating law and order situation.
Responding to the criticism, Mann strongly accused the BJP of being behind the incidents. Speaking during the launch of a statewide ‘Shukrana Yatra’ from Sri Anandpur Sahib, he alleged that such blasts are part of the BJP’s political strategy ahead of elections.
“Whatever is happening in Punjab now reflects the BJP’s style. They try to create fear among people before elections through such tactics,” Mann said, adding that the party uses violence to influence voters.
The Chief Minister further described the BJP as a “divisive force,” claiming that after elections in other states, the party has now shifted its focus to Punjab. He alleged that the recent explosions are linked to the party’s preparations for upcoming polls in the state.
Mann also warned against attempts to disturb communal harmony, stating that Punjab is a peaceful state where people believe in collective welfare. “Punjab has already witnessed a dark phase in its history. The wounds are still fresh. Such actions should be avoided,” he said.
He further alleged that the BJP is unhappy with stricter laws against sacrilege, as it prevents attempts to incite tensions among communities.
The BJP has not officially responded to these specific allegations, but the escalating war of words signals a deepening political confrontation in Punjab amid rising security concerns.
