Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday claimed that the people of Punjab are prepared to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2027 Assembly elections, expressing confidence that the party is on course to form the next government in the state.
Addressing the BJP's OBC Sarv Samaj Rally at the Abohar Grain Market as the chief guest, Saini launched a sharp attack on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the previous Congress government, alleging that Punjab had fallen behind in multiple sectors under their leadership.
The Haryana Chief Minister said the AAP government had failed to meet public expectations and accused leaders from Delhi of "looting Punjab." He also alleged that the party’s image of honesty had been completely exposed, claiming that those who projected themselves as honest had turned out to be corrupt.
Highlighting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saini said India is witnessing rapid development and assured that if the BJP forms the government in Punjab in 2027, the state would experience similar progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment, and farmer welfare, as seen in Haryana.
He further claimed that the BJP’s victory in the Abohar Municipal Corporation elections has strengthened the party’s prospects in Punjab and indicated growing public support ahead of the Assembly polls. According to Saini, the current Punjab government has entered its "countdown phase" as people are seeking change.
The Chief Minister also highlighted several welfare initiatives undertaken by the Haryana government, stating that the BJP’s policies remain focused on empowering farmers, youth, women, and economically weaker sections.
Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon also criticized the state government, alleging that despite receiving nearly ₹4.13 lakh crore in assistance from the Centre over the past four years, the government has failed to explain how the funds were utilized. He also accused the state administration of not fulfilling its promise to establish six medical colleges.
Dhillon said the procurement of wheat and paddy in Punjab continues smoothly with support from the central government and claimed that Haryana provides Minimum Support Price (MSP) benefits on 24 crops, directly benefiting farmers. He added that with BJP or BJP-backed governments in 22 states, Punjab too is looking at the BJP as an alternative for development and good governance.
The rally was also addressed by Haryana minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa, former Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, and Abohar MLA Sandeep Jakhar, who urged party workers to strengthen the organization and take BJP's policies to every household.
