Punjab’s Healthcare Turnaround: Aam Aadmi Clinics Win Public Trust Under Bhagwant Mann Govt

Punjab Newsline,Chandigarh :

State Report Card Shows 96% Patient Satisfaction, Free Medicines and Diagnostics Strengthen Public Healthcare

The Bhagwant Mann government has brought a significant transformation in Punjab’s public healthcare system, with Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) emerging as a strong pillar of accessible, affordable and quality primary healthcare. The latest State Report Card prepared by the Punjab Development Commission (PDC) highlights growing public confidence in AACs and validates the healthcare reforms undertaken by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

According to the Patient Feedback State Report Card, based on interviews with 18,256 patients across Punjab, nearly 96 percent of patients expressed satisfaction with the treatment provided at Aam Aadmi Clinics. The findings indicate a clear shift in primary healthcare delivery—from long-standing issues of neglect and inaccessibility to a system marked by reliability, quality services and trust. Patients are now receiving timely medical care without any financial burden.

The report states that all patients visiting AACs received medicines free of cost, with 92 percent confirming they received all prescribed drugs. In terms of diagnostics, 94 percent of patients reported that their recommended tests were conducted at the clinics themselves, again completely free. This reflects a major policy shift under the Bhagwant Mann government, which has positioned healthcare as a basic right rather than a privilege dependent on affordability.

Apart from medical services, the report highlights a strong focus on patient dignity and clinic infrastructure. About 99 percent of patients reported that Aam Aadmi Clinic premises were clean and well-maintained, while 99 percent confirmed the availability of adequate seating. Additionally, 97 percent reported access to drinking water and 95 percent stated that toilets were clean, indicating an emphasis on humane and respectful healthcare delivery.

District-wise data further shows consistent satisfaction levels across Punjab, including districts such as Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur and Tarn Taran. The uniform performance reflects effective governance, regular monitoring and a strong commitment to strengthening public healthcare infrastructure across the state.

The Aam Aadmi Clinics initiative has also helped reduce the financial burden on families and ease pressure on secondary and tertiary hospitals by addressing health concerns at the neighbourhood level. The Bhagwant Mann government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding and strengthening AACs, ensuring that every citizen has access to timely, free and quality healthcare close to home.
