Residents of Punjab and Chandigarh have finally got relief from the scorching heat after widespread rainfall across the region. The temperature has dropped by 3.4°C and is now recorded at 4.7°C below normal levels, bringing much-needed comfort to people.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh, May 4 is expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, heavy rain, and strong winds blowing at speeds of 50–60 km/h. In view of the changing weather conditions, an Orange Alert has been issued for the region.

Faridkot recorded the highest temperature at 38.1°C, while several areas received more than 1 cm of rainfall. Authorities have issued alerts for thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds in 22 districts.

Additionally, hailstorms are likely in 13 districts, including Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, and Mohali.
