RERA got new Chairman : Ex-IRS officer Rakesh Goyal appointed as New Chief

The RERA in Punjab finally got a new chairman. Punjab govt has appointed former, retired IRS officer Rakesh Kumar Goyal for five years. He was earlier member of RERA in Punjab.
The notification was issued by the department of housing and urban planning on Monday late night. On Feburary 7, retired IAS officer Satya Gopal had resigned from the post in February 2024.

Goyal is an IRS Officer of 1989 batch. He graduated from Jagraon and passed LL.B. & LL.M. from Panjab University Campus Chandigarh. He served as an IRS Officer in Chandigarh and the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, MP, Maharashtra, UP and West Bengal at various important positions. He has served as Zonal Director Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh for more than five years looking after the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh with additional Charge of J&K also. He wrote books on NDPS Act in Punjabi, Hindi and English while working as Zonal Director, NCB at Chandigarh. He was appointed TIWB by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for Seychelles in 2018 and worked till superannuation.
