Wedding festivities to begin from March 3; ceremony to be a private family affair

Former Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, accompanied by his family and the family of his son Arjun Tendulkar’s fiancée Saaniya Chandhok, met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday to formally invite her to the upcoming wedding. Arjun and Saaniya are set to tie the knot in early March.

Sharing a picture from the visit on social media platform X, Sachin expressed gratitude to the President for her warm wishes. He recalled a previous visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan, stating that the family cherished the opportunity to once again meet the Hon’ble President and personally extend the wedding invitation.

During his visit to the national capital, Sachin also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Photographs from these meetings were shared online, marking the occasion as a memorable moment for the Tendulkar family ahead of the celebrations.

Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok’s wedding festivities are scheduled to commence on March 3, followed by a private ceremony on March 5. Sources earlier confirmed that the celebrations will be intimate, attended only by close family members and friends. The couple had announced their engagement in August last year in a similarly private gathering.

Saaniya Chandhok is a successful entrepreneur and a trained veterinary technician. She is also the granddaughter of noted Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai, bringing together two prominent families through this alliance.

Meanwhile, Arjun continues to focus on his growing cricket career. A left-arm fast bowler and capable lower-order batsman, he made headlines with a century on his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa in 2022. He joined the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021 and made his IPL debut in 2023, claiming his maiden wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Retained for the 2024 season, Arjun has now been traded to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2026 IPL season.

The upcoming wedding marks a special milestone for the Tendulkar family.
