- Accused linked to Amritsar-based supplier; online transactions reveal drug network

In a significant breakthrough in a drug trafficking case registered at Jubbal police station in Shimla district, the police have arrested another accused after establishing backward linkages during the investigation.
The accused has been identified as Tarun Thakur (33), a resident of Chogtali village in Rajgarh tehsil of Sirmaur district. He was currently employed as a Loan Manager/Field Officer at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Rohru.
According to police officials, Tarun Thakur was arrested under Section 29 of the NDPS Act for his alleged involvement in the trade of narcotics, specifically ‘chitta’ (heroin). Investigations revealed that he was actively engaged in the purchase and distribution of drugs.
Police further stated that Thakur had direct links with the main supplier, Lukas alias Lucky, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab. Financial transactions between the two were conducted through online channels, further confirming the existence of an organized illegal network.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to uncover more links in the drug trafficking chain.
