Serving the downtrodden, needy and poor is a virtuous act : Dattatraya

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that serving the downtrodden, needy, helpless, poor and injured people living in the society is a great virtuous act. Therefore, all the volunteers of the Red Cross Society should fulfill their duties without any discrimination.
Governor was addressing the World Red Cross Day programme organized by the Indian Red Cross Society Haryana branch at the Red Cross Bhawan in Sector-16 on the occasion of the annual birth anniversary of Sir Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross movement. He paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sir Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross movement and inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional lamp.
He said that the theme of World Red Cross Day this year is "Keeping Humanity Alive". He said that it is a matter of great happiness that today Haryana Red Cross helps the needy people by publicizing its welfare activities not only in Haryana but also in other states.
Dattatraya said that Haryana State Red Cross has always been a pioneer in the field of voluntary blood donation service. In the year 2023-24, 3,86,128 units of blood were collected by organizing 5512 voluntary blood donation camps, which is a record blood unit compared to previous years, for which Red Cross deserves congratulations. Haryana Red Cross is also playing a pivotal role in the service of the persons with disability (PwD). Free artificial limbs and equipment are distributed to the disabled people with the help of Alumiko Kanpur and by Red Cross from its own resources. In the year 2023-24, 25,374 artificial limbs were distributed to the PwDs and the elderly through the District Red Cross branches. On which an amount of Rs 16,84,80,386 has been spent, which is a great virtuous act.
