State govt to give full support for social welfare initiatives

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said that Buddha Jayanti will be celebrated in a grand manner across the state. He made these remarks while addressing a delegation from the Shakya community who called on him at his residence, ‘Sant Kabir Kutir,’ here today. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 21 lakh for the construction of a Dharamshala for the Shakya community in Kaithal.
During the programme, the Shakya community representatives presented demands related to the community welfare. The Chief Minister responded positively, assuring them that these requests would be addressed promptly. He said that the state government is fully committed to providing every possible support for social welfare initiatives. The event was attended by many prominent members, including senior representatives of the Shakya community.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Minister highlighted that the illustrious history of the Shakya community serves as an inspiration not only for India but for the entire world. He reminded that Lord Gautam Buddha, a global symbol of compassion, non-violence, and peace, was born into this very community. He described this heritage as extraordinary, a legacy that has guided humanity towards friendship, kindness and truth.
Appreciating the community’s contributions, the Chief Minister said that the Shakya community continue to uphold traditions of hard work and integrity. Their efforts in sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, vegetable production and craftsmanship have played a vital role in the progress of the state.
He said that the State Government is committed to the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi. Highlighting various initiatives undertaken for the welfare of backward classes, he said that the income limit for the creamy layer fore backward classes has been raised from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8 lakh. Also, all eligible sections of society are benefiting from schemes such as reservation in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies, reservation in education and employment, low-interest education loans, and financial assistance (shagun) on daughters’ marriages.
The Chief Minister further said that the unity and organizational strength of the Shakya community is its greatest asset. He appealed to the community members to educate their children by following the teachings of Lord Buddha, promote peace and harmony in society, and contribute collectively to elevate the state to new heights of development.
