Alleges that the Punjab Govt and MLA Randhawa crossed all limits of hooliganism during the nomination process

Former Deputy Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa met Giani Kuldeep Singh Gurgaj, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, in Amritsar, to register a strong protest against the alleged misconduct during the nomination process for Block Committee and Zila Parishad elections in Dera Baba Nanak constituency. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa submitted a memorandum demanding immediate and appropriate action against AAP MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa for allegedly disrespecting the Sikh turban and hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community, in accordance with Sikh traditions and maryada.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, MP Randhawa alleged that the Punjab Government and AAP MLA Gurdip Singh Randhawa from Dera Baba Nanak had crossed all limits of hooliganism during the nomination process. Supporters of the MLA not only threatened Sikh candidates who came to file their nominations but also forcibly removed their turbans. Such actions, he said, deeply hurt Sikh sentiments and were accompanied by abusive language directed towards the nominees.

Further condemning the incident, Randhawa said that after committing this grave religious offense, the MLA attempted to downplay the act by making a highly offensive remark, saying, “What is there in turbans? They keep falling off.”

MP Randhawa stated that he has written to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib urging immediate and firm disciplinary measures against the culprits to ensure that no one ever dares insult the Sikh turban or disregard the honor of the Sikh community. He appealed for strong action to uphold dignity and stop any form of disrespect toward Sikh symbols.

Majitha constituency in-charge Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar and Udaivir Randhawa were also present during the meeting.
