Reacting sharply to the statements of Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal, in which he said that the role of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in the sacrilege incidents should also be discussed, the Aam Aadmi Party asserted that Sukhbir Badal is getting restless as he sees his political career ending. Unnerved, he is making such absurd statements.
Addressing a press conference at the party office in Chandigarh on Sunday, AAP leader Baltej Pannu stated that instead of making such comments, Sukhbir Badal should apologize to the Sikh community because the entire Punjab knows who was involved in the sacrilege incidents.
Pannu said that in 1986, when Guru Granth Sahib was desecrated in Nakodar, the Aam Aadmi Party didn't even exist. In that incident, four youths were killed in police firing. Justice Gurnam Singh investigated the matter, but to protect the culprits, his report disappeared during the Badal government.
Two police officers’ names emerged in that incident – one was Darbara Singh Guru and the other Mohammad Izhar Alam. At that time, Darbara Singh Guru was ADC and Mohammad Izhar Alam was SSP. Both were later promoted by the Akali government, and after their retirement, they joined the Akali Dal. They even contested elections on Akali Dal tickets and were given important positions in the party. Sukhbir Badal owes an explanation of this to the people.
When in June 2015 the saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji was stolen from Jawahar Singh Wala, Sukhbir Badal was the Home Minister. The way posters were put up and the manner in which the investigation was influenced is no secret.
Charanjit Sharma was the SSP of Faridkot at that time. Many people informed the police about the case, but no action was taken. The suspects were later released, and it is still unknown who those suspects were.
During the same period, a Dera follower shopkeeper was murdered in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala. His wife was illiterate, but she was given a job in the police because Sukhbir Badal was the Home Minister and all decisions were in his hands. Afterwards, the people involved were granted pardon, which is known to all. For this, the then Jathedar Sahib was called to the government residence, handed a slip, and asked to issue a pardon. To justify this pardon, advertisements worth about Rs. 95 lakh were issued using the money of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Arvind Kejriwal was not involved in this process. In fact, Sukhbir Badal is taking Arvind Kejriwal’s name to hide his own sins.
In December 2024 these people confessed all their sins in front of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Yet, with shamelessness, they are deliberately naming someone else to divert attention from the issue.
The investigation report also revealed that, at the time when the sacrilege and firing incidents were occurring, Home Minister Sukhbir Badal was relaxing in a five-star hotel in Haryana. This is also mentioned by the Faridkot judge in his order. Whereas Sukhbir falsely claimed that he was abroad at that time. Sukhbir Badal has not answered any of these matters to date. The AAP leader said that the people of Punjab are fully aware of his actions and deeds. People don't trust anything he says.
